
Khardung La’ is located on the Ladakh range which is 40 km from Leh. It is positioned at an altitude of 18,379 ft. and is also known as the ‘Pass of Lower Castle’. The place offers amazing picturesque and attractive views of valleys. In addition, Tibetan prayer flags add numerous colors to the scenic beauty.
Khardung La is a strategically important pass lying on a caravan road from Leh to Kashgar. In earlier times camels and horses took this trade route to supply goods and valuables. Today it is used to carry supplies to Siachen Glacier and is of high logistic importance to Indian army. The nearest reachable town to this pass is Leh which is linked to Manali and Srinagar.

Maitreya Budhha
Along the other attractions of Nubra, this mighty Buddha statue surmounted on top of a monastery, is one of the prime and is deeply appreciated for its architecture. Facing the Shyok river, the statue sits tall with a height of 32 meters and was constructed with the help of the natives of the valley.
Gold to be used in the construction of the statue was donated by the heads of other major monasteries around. The idea behind the construction of Maitreya Buddha is to promote peace and protection in the region
The largest Buddha statue lies in the enchanting Nubra valley of Ladakh. In order to reach Nubra, one can hire a jeep or take a bus from the city of Leh, which is connected to the other parts of India via airways.

Day 03 : Leh – Khardung’la Pass – Nubra Valley (120 Kms)
After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World,18,380 ft). Arrive at Deskit by Afternoon. Rest of the day is free to explore Deskit, HunderVillages and camel Safari in Sand Dunes between Deskit and Hunder Village. Overnight stay at Nubra Valley.
Day 04 : Nubra Valley – Leh (120 Kms)
After Breakfast, visit Deskit Monastery and drive back to Leh by same Route, crossing Khardungla Pass. Overnight stay at Hotel.
