Shanti Stupa
The Shanti Stupa is white-colored domed-shaped structure, located in Chandspa which looks extremely beautiful during night when it is illuminated. This peace pillar was built a ‘peace sect’ of Japanese Buddhist organization to celebrate the completion of 2500 years of Buddhism and for the promotion of world peace. It was inaugurated by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama in 1985. This pillar is known for its gilt panels depicting the life stories of Lord Buddha. It is just 5 kms away from the main city of Leh and is surrounded the traditionally built houses of the locals and snow-covered mountains. Take the steep slights to reach the Stupa that offers beautiful sunrise and sunset views.

Around the Shanti Stupa

Nimu
Nimu is located in the South eastern part of the Ladakh region. At an elevation of around 3000 meters, Nimu has Indus river flowing alongside it. Owing to such an altitude and topography of the region, there is nothing much to look around except the All India-rafting expedition which takes place on the river Indus flowing across the valley. Besides, rafting groups can also make way to the Zanskar river for some more river action.

Attractions around Nimu
Despite the untouched cold barrens, one can amazingly expect some sightseeing at the Basgo and Likir et Alchi monasteries which depict the Indus and Zanskar confluence. One can also visit the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, which comes in the way while driving from Leh to Nimu. There is also a heritage hotel by the name of Nimu house in the region to explore.

Magnetic hill also known as gravity hill (and sometimes called as a mystery hill or a gravity road), is a place located on the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar national highway, about 30 km from Leh.
The magnetic Hill is located at a height of 14,000 feet above sea level. To the eastern side of the hill flows the Sindhu River, originating in Tibet and goes to Pakistan. The layout of the surrounding land produces the optical illusion that a very slight downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope. Thus, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill.

Magnetic hill near picturesque Leh has magnetic properties which attracts metallic objects, making vehicles move up at a speed of about 20 km per hour with their engines off. The local administration has put up a billboard near the “Magnetic Hill” for tourists stating that if a vehicle is placed on a particular spot on the road and the engine is switched off, it would not slide down but move up. The “Magnetic Hill” is one of the several unique places which one can find in Ladakh.
